We've all had those times. When, no matter what you do, it all keeps piling up on you and you get so frustrated. You WANT to throw the tool as far and as hard as you can, but even before the muscles tense, you know you're going to have sheet rock repairs to do if you follow through. You're way off in the "back forty" and the tool you really need is still in the shop. So you "improvise" and end up making it worse. And sometimes you have days and days of the same kind of "inabilities".
At times like these, when I'm seeing red and smoke is pouring out my ears, I have to stop and remember "the Father's Day From Hell". A lesson from the cosmos about all our little concerns and their place in the greater scheme of things. This reminds me to stop and sit back and breathe. I don't always pay attention, but I'm getting better.
It's officially well over 100 degrees and physically a real PITA to do anything outside. My mental abilities are washed out and ragged and my motor skills are deteriorating rapidly, so I've decided to hide out in the house and AC. It's been estrogen central here, but I can hide out under the couch with the cat.

Drink lots of water! It was 102 up here today, I drank about a gallon of water and have yet to need to 'offload' any of it...
Water hell, drink beer. I'm cooped with three females 24/7, and beer is the only thing that keeps me somewhat sane. The heat just makes everything worse, because it's kept me indoors more than I would like. Even the shade of the deck has been prohibitively hot the last week. Keeping outdoors is the only other escape, now partially cut off...
Find some 'man-cave' projects that keep mind busy and are constructive. I like keeping some 'trip wire' handy for repairs, but the original wood spools are a bit bulky.
I wind one of the reels around a sewing bobbin for much more compact storage. This can be installed on the outside of a multi-tool sheath, using a glued on Chicago screw on front or back side of sheath.
Or you can glue on the bobbin on the end of a fire steel blank to act as a handle for it.
Winding the bobbin neatly is the trick and takes some patience - uses about an hour of time.
The point is, there is always SOMETHING you can do to beat the heat inside and still get things accomplished.
Ah, yes, the Estrogen People. Don't they just make life lovely at times?
Gentlemen, thanks for coming by and commenting.
Craig, I can't do the beer thing, or wine or alcohol. Have to stick with other aquatics.
Old NFO, water, tea and assorted are mainstays, specially in this heat.
Anonymous, yes, there's plenty of "indoor" stuff to be done.
Catman, you know the story!!
