Reloading Cast Bullets

Spent yesterday prepping cases for reloading, then went to cast bullet cache to set out some (30 & 45 cal).

Oh persnickity!!

I usually spend some time during the winter doing bullet casting and this past winter slipped right by me, thus leaving me woefully deficient.

So I went on line looking at prices of bulk cast bullets. YIKES!!! That's gonna leave a mark!! Just looking at the prices hurt. It's bad enough that jacketed bullets are extremely precious right now, but even cast is up in the stratosphere.

Gonna have to rethink this.

Yep, EVERYTHING is going up in price...

YOF, much of the cost has to do with shipping, which because of weight of ammunition and components (especially the projectiles). Buying in person should help with the cost quite a bit.

Maybe barter? Someone at gun range likely has a lot of this stored up, and needs some task or work done. Maybe a deal can be found.

Try fishing tackle shops, they probably have some fishing weights that are too beat up to deal with.
Reloading is coming to the point where buying factory is comprable to roll-yer-own, unfortunately.

Hope you find a solution soon.

Thanks guys for stopping by.
Pickdog, I'll check 'em out, thanks again.
Old NFO, everything has always been going up in price, but I can't seem to keep up (I know, same boat as everyone else). Reason why I cast my own bullets mostly. All it takes is "sweat equity" LOL.

See Ya,

I used to do some reloading in my younger days. At one point in my life I had some 23 guns---mostly long guns, but a few pistols. I always favored the odd cal. I had a rem. 5mm, rem 17cal, rem 221cal, etc. Don't know why I liked them so much, but I will say the rem 5mm rifle I had was by far the most accurate rimfire I've ever shot---the ammo cost for that is through the roof(I don't believe they make it any more).

Scrap metal prices are through the ceiling & climbing. Holding on to what scrap I have, but have been tempted to flush out & cut open a few scrap car batteries. I've got a strange notion that my scrap may come in handy one day. I also have a forge, anvil, & tools. Need more coal, though. Saving what I have until it's really needed.
